When nobody can tell whether a washing machine that won't spin needs a $12 belt or a $200 control board, the guides on iFixit and the parts on PartSelect go unused, the repair-or-replace call gets made blind, and most devices are thrown out undiagnosed — landfilled while still fixable.

What to build
Build an AI-powered solution that takes a person from a symptom to a diagnosis to a confident repair-or-replace decision.
iFixit's guides and PartSelect's catalog still assume you already know what broke — they start after the hard part. The gap is diagnosis and judgment: asking the question that discriminates between failure modes, weighing what's likely for this model and age, and turning it into an honest verdict — this fix costs X, the machine has Y years left, here's when replacing genuinely wins.
How to build

Day 1
Pick the smallest experience that helps someone decide whether a broken device is worth fixing. The goal is to make one of those experiences work well, not to solve every part of the problem at once.
Pick your angle
Day 2
Choose the simplest format that fits the experience and audience. Build only what you need to test whether the idea works, people can use it, or the system can deliver.
